Nanopower Semiconductor Selected for the Amazon Devices Climate Tech Accelerator
Nanopower Semiconductor is proud to announce its participation in the Amazon Devices Climate Tech Accelerator — a program focused on advancing breakthrough technologies that can help reduce the carbon impact of next-generation connected devices.
The accelerator brings together companies developing innovations across semiconductors, energy efficiency, AI, batteries, and sustainable electronics manufacturing. For Nanopower, participation represents strong validation of the growing importance of ultra-low-power semiconductor architectures as billions of connected devices move toward always-on sensing, ambient intelligence, and edge AI.
Nanopower’s nPZero technology addresses one of the biggest challenges in electronics today: idle power consumption.Unlike conventional sensor systems that require an always-on MCU, nPZero autonomously manages sensors, wake-up events, and power domains — allowing the host processor to remain fully powered down until needed.By eliminating unnecessary active time, nPZero can reduce sensor-system energy consumption by up to 90% in certain applications while significantly extending battery life and reducing overall energy usage. The technology targets battery-constrained applications including IoT sensing, industrial monitoring, smart infrastructure, wearables, asset tracking, and edge AI systems.
“Participation in the accelerator is an exciting milestone and strong validation of our technology direction,” said CEO Svein-Egil Nielsen. “The industry is increasingly recognising that future device innovation depends on fundamentally rethinking how systems consume energy.”
nPZero enables autonomous operation of up to four sensors while consuming as little as 100 nA idle current and approximately 1 µA during polling operation.
Anthony Carter VP Sales says “Reducing idle power can unlock enormous gains across connected systems. There is growing demand for architectures that allow devices to remain intelligent and responsive while consuming almost no energy between meaningful events.”
Nanopower is honoured to be part of the Amazon Devices Climate Tech Accelerator ecosystem and contribute to the future of more energy-efficient electronics.Learn more:
