We’re Delighted to Share: Nanopower Joins Amazon’s Climate Tech Accelerator to Redefine Ultra-Low-Power Devices
We’re delighted to share that Nanopower Semiconductor has been participating in the Amazon Devices Climate Tech Accelerator over the past few months — a collaboration that strongly reinforces the industry shift toward radically lower-power device architectures and brings to life the real-world impact of our nPZero technology.
The accelerator’s mission is clear: identify and scale technologies that drive a step change in battery performance in IOT devices and reduce the environmental footprint of next-generation devices. That aligns directly with Nanopower’s core belief — that the biggest gains in battery life and sustainability come not from bigger batteries, but from eliminating wasted power at the system level.
At the heart of this is nPZero, our ultra-low-power Power Saving IC (PSIC) that fundamentally changes how sensor systems operate. Instead of relying on an always-on MCU, nPZero autonomously manages sensors, power domains, and wake-up events — keeping the host completely off until it is truly needed. The result is up to 90% reduction in sensor system energy consumption, enabling longer lifetime, smaller batteries, less batteries and lower carbon impact across active solutions.
This creates direct synergy with Amazon Devices’ focus on scalable, energy-efficient consumer and edge devices. As products increasingly rely on always-on sensing, ambient intelligence, and edge processing, eliminating idle power becomes one of the highest-impact design levers available.
“The collaboration with Amazon reinforces what we are increasingly seeing across the market: reducing idle power is becoming one of the biggest opportunities in modern electronics. Nanopower’s architecture enables device makers to rethink how systems operate, extending battery life while reducing environmental impact at scale. We are excited about the opportunities this creates within the Amazon ecosystem and across the wider IoT and edge AI markets.”
Svein-Egil Nielsen, CEO, Nanopower Semiconductor
What has stood out in this engagement is the shared recognition that future device innovation is inseparable from power innovation — and that breakthroughs at the semiconductor level are essential to achieving meaningful sustainability outcomes at scale.
“The engagement with Amazon validates not only the technology behind nPZero, but the growing commercial demand for radically lower-power device architectures. As OEMs look to extend battery life, reduce servicing costs, and support more sustainable products, Nanopower is entering conversations that simply weren’t happening a few years ago.”
Anthony Carter, VP Sales, Nanopower Semiconductor
We are proud to contribute to this ecosystem and to see growing momentum behind architectures that rethink energy use from first principles. We're honoured and galvanised to be working with Amazon to bring this energy efficient future to life across the world!
